22.07.2020

The first All-Russian Competition for the creation of tourist and recreational clusters and the development of ecotourism in Russia started on July 16. The Northern Capital of Russia has announced an environmental project "Northern Coast of the Neva Bay".

The concept for the development of the territory of the northern coast of the Gulf of Finland from Lakhta to Lisiy Nos is being developed by the Committee for the Development of Tourism of St. Petersburg and the "Leaders Club" in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

The "Northern Coast of the Neva Bay" involves the creation of conditions for ecotourism, including the arrangement of eco-trails, monitoring stations and visitor centers, excursions and lectures, as well as the development of infrastructure in the adjacent territories to organize a place of constant leisure for citizens and tourists.  It is planned to use public-private partnership instruments for development.

"This is a very important project for the city as part of the formation of the New Tourist Geography of St. Petersburg program, which can become a growth point for new tourism destinations and the promotion of a recreational and ecological brand," says Sergey Korneev, Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg.  - Our goal is to create a unique and attractive complex for visitors, which has a great ecological, tourist and educational potential.  For this, a diverse team of representatives of different communities has been assembled - townspeople, ecologists, urbanists, experts in territorial development.  At the same time, it is important to develop a single roadmap taking into account the interests of all parties. "

The area covered by the eco-project includes the specially protected natural zone "Northern coast of the Neva Bay", as well as adjacent lands with existing sports, recreational and cultural facilities, such as the public and business complex "Lakhta Center".  The total area will be 603 hectares.

You can vote for the environmental project "Northern Coast of the Neva Bay" until July 23 on the competition website.  The results of the competition will be announced on July 28.  Please take an active part in the voting and support the project of St. Petersburg.
