St. Petersburg keeps pace with the times: Tik Tok online excursion watched by thousands of users from all over the world

On July 20, on the Visit Petersburg Tik Tok account, a live tour of the center of the Northern capital was held.  About 8 thousand people joined the broadcast.  And the number of subscribers after the broadcast increased by 500 people.  Among them there are residents of European and Asian countries, as well as users from Russian cities.

The online tour was held as part of the #RussiaTravel company.  This is a new project organized by the Federal Agency for Tourism of Russian Federation, during which representatives of the tourism industry from various cities of Russia present their excursions live on Tik Tok.  The main goal of the project is the development of domestic tourism.

"The Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg is pleased to take part in the new project of the Federal Agency for Tourism #RussiaTravel.  The fact that we are actively developing social networks, including Tik Tok, shows that St. Petersburg is keeping pace with the times, speaking with young people on their language.  I am sure that in this way we will be able to attract the attention of the potential tourists from cities of Russia and foreign countries, "said Sergey Korneev, Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development.

On July 27, the TikTok audience will have another online walk around the city.

TikTok is a new, but already very popular social network.  Millions of users watch short videos and give "likes" the videos they like.  Visit Petersburg Tik Tok account was created in May 2020.  However, it has already managed to attract the attention of travelers all over the world.  So, in just two months, more than 11 thousand likes were received, and the most popular video received more than 130 thousand views.

Visit Petersburg is an official travel portal created to promote St. Petersburg in the regional and international tourism arena with its own recognizable brand.  The platform is presented on social networks such as VKontakte, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter.
